Job Description: Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Engineer The Oracle Cloud Infrastructure (OCI) Engineer position is for a technical hands-on Engineer to assist with planning, designing and executing an on-premise to Oracle Cloud Infrastructure migrations. You will be a part of a team that focuses on enabling our client's end-to-end journey from On-Premise to Cloud, with opportunities in the areas of: Cloud Strategy, Cloud Development, Cloud Integration & APIs, Cloud Migration and Lift and Shift, Cloud Infrastructure & Engineering, and Cloud Managed Services. We help our clients see the transformational capabilities of Cloud as an opportunity for business enablement and competitive advantage. Oracle Cloud Infrastructure Engineers support our clients as they improve agility and resilience and help to identify opportunities to reduce IT operations spend through automation by enabling Cloud Technologies for our customers. We accelerate our clients towards a Cloud Technology-empowered future. Typical Duties:
Enterprise Cloud Migration - Have experience with a variety of cloud deployment models and experience with migrating on-premise to cloud, specifically OCI. Other Cloud experience such as AWS, Azure and GCP seen as a huge plus. Scripting - Be able to automate migration and standard tasks via scripting, when required. Integration Architecture - Understand how to integrate data into a specific IT architecture, specifically OCI Databases and Big Data and understand fundamentals and applications of concepts in relation to data migration and standup of infrastructure in OCI. Networking - Have demonstrated experience using VLANs, troubleshooting tools such as ip, netstat, ssh and telnet as well as how to harden a system using firewalld/iptables and hosts.allow. Operating Systems – Have a very firm grasp and be comfortable in Linux and Linux based hypervisor technologies such as XEN, KVM, etc. Experience in Windows Server based operating systems a plus. User Management - Be able to manage a large pool of local users through the command line, understand fundamentals of userID and groupID management in Linux systems and have fundamental understanding of directory services for Linux such as Redhat Enterprise Authentication and IPA. Understand basic fundamentals of managing users in Windows Active Directory. System Hardening - Have exposure to or understanding of the DISA STIG or its commercial equivalent and be able to demonstrate experience in system hardening and auditing Linux and Linux based systems. Virtualization - Have demonstrated ability using VMWare, Oracle VM and KVM hypervisors, and be able to maintain and build systems from templates or from scratch via system ISO files. Must be able to adapt to migrating from these technologies to the Oracle OCI / IaaS cloud and understand at depth how to troubleshoot issues related to these activities. Storage - Understand SAN/storage concepts (LUNs, HBAs), logical volume management (LVM) & NFS, FC, iSCSI and how to utilize all of those at the OS level. Teamwork/Communication - Demonstrated interpersonal and teamwork skills as well as the ability to analyze and solve complex problems. This should include experience in designing, documenting and writing deliverable plans for enterprise implementations using Microsoft Office products such as MS Project and MS Visio. You should possess a can-do attitude and at least 5 years related experience in Cloud related technologies, with a recent focus on Oracle Cloud Infrastructure based technologies in IaaS, SaaS and PaaS based solutions.
